About me

Been riding bikes since I was 16, which is forty years ago and enjoy nothing more than riding round the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District where the scenery is second to none. You see something different every time you go out.I am 56 years old, married with two grown up daughters. Born and bred in Silsden. I have spent years working all over England, Scotland and Wales, and have yet to find somewhere I would rather live.

Hobbies

10 pin bowling, wine making, wine tasting (but I don’t spit it out). Beer sampling. Camping and generally travelling. And watching TV with my eyes shut occasionally.

Past Bikes

BSA 350 SS90, Norton Jubilee, Honda CB72, Honda K3 750 in blue (first one in Yorkshire), Honda 750 F1, CX500, VFR 750,(current) V  Strom DL1000. In the past also various basket cases.

Biking ambition

To ride a Harley Davidson down the East coast of America to the Florida Keys -with Dolly Parton on the back.

About me

I have  been riding  bikes since I was 16 and now  in my 50’s  I think I  have a good knowledge of the area encompassing the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria and the Scottish Borders.  I have always lived in this area, just outside  Skipton - the Gateway to the Dales, and find  this to be  an ideal starting point for our tours.

Hobbies

A number  years ago I trained  for and passed  my Advanced Motorcycle certificate  with my instructor  Alan Brumfitt,  who then became a good friend and   riding companion,   he has since sadly passed away but  during those years  we travelled extensively  throughout the North of England;  over that period  I have found good roads for riding on whilst absorbing the breathtaking views , and although one  of our rides took us  into France over the Pyrenees across the Millau bridge and  over the Alps  ... the  Yorkshire Dales Cumbria and Scottish borders  take a lot of beating !!!

Past Bikes

I ride an FJR 1300 having had a few bikes over the years I feel this an ideal touring bike.  I have  had  a Honda CB250, Honda CB900, Suzuki GSX, Honda Goldwing, Honda Pan European, and the usual 'sheds' in my younger days !!!

Biking ambition

Would like to do Ewan McGregors'  "Long Way Round", but avoid falling off as many times as he did !!!
